Opioid & Heroin Community Forum to be Held in Jonesport
April 22, 2016

Jonesport. Healthy Acadia, Maine Medical Association, Maine Community Foundation, i care 2, and the Maine Health Access Foundation are partnering with the Maine Opioid Collaborative to coordinate a public conversation about opioid use, including heroin, and the impacts on local communities. The Forum will be held on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 from 6pm to 8pm at the Jonesport-Beals High School. All are invited to this free event to learn and share their views on the challenges of opioid use and addiction. Light refreshments will be served.

The event will begin with a panel presentation from professionals in law enforcement, treatment, prevention and harm reduction speaking about what’s happening in Jonesport and throughout Washington County. Community members are encouraged to share their experiences, perspectives, and suggestions during the facilitated community discussion immediately following the panel presentation.

The ideas generated at the forum will be shared with the Maine Opioid Collaborative Task Forces to help inform their recommendations for federal, state, and local actions to address the heroin/opioid epidemic that Maine is currently experiencing.
