“Marijuana in the New Millennium” Evening Event Set for September 23rd

Healthy Acadia and Bangor Public Health, in partnership with the Bangor Public Health & Community Services’ Substance Abuse Task Force, are pleased to announce an evening event: “Marijuana in the New Millennium,” to be held on Wednesday, September 23rd, at The Gracie Theater at Husson University in Bangor. A reception will begin at 5:30 pm, and the evening program will start at 6:00 pm. This event is free and open to the public.

The evening’s keynote speaker will be Thomas J. Gorman, Director of the Rocky Mountain High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area. Gorman will review the evolving public policy, public health and safety data from Colorado since the legalization of medical and recreational marijuana. A panel presentation by local experts in the fields of law enforcement, public health, substance abuse treatment and recovery, and healthcare will follow Gorman’s presentation.

This summit is supported by a federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Drug-Free Communities grant and AdCare Educational Institute.
