Dine Out at Mckays Public House and Support “Hungry for Health 2016” to Turn the Tide on the Opioid Epidemic Downeast
August 15, 2016

Healthy Acadia recently launched “Hungry for Health” 2016 campaign in partnership with restaurants in Hancock and Washington counties to help “Turn the Tide on the Opioid Epidemic Downeast.” Restaurants across Washington and Hancock counties are partnering with Healthy Acadia to host fundraising events throughout the summer and fall to support efforts to increase substance education, prevention, and treatment resources in our communities.

McKays Public House, located at 231 Main Street in Bar Harbor, will host an event on Thursday, August 25, with a percentage of the day’s sales proceeds to be donated to fund needed services Downeast. McKays Public House serves elevated pub fare made with organic and local ingredients. They will be open from 4:30 to 9:30pm on the day of the event. Find them on Facebook to check out the menu.

“This is an important problem to address, said McKays proprietor Brian Smith, “We are happy to be a part of Healthy Acadia’s Hungry for Health 2016 effort to bring awareness to the issue of addiction in our communities.”

This event follows an August 18 “Hungry for Health” event hosted by the Islesford Dock Restaurant. Additional events are scheduled for the coming weeks and months at restaurants in both counties.
