Healthy Acadia Offers Free “Tai Chi for Health” Series
June 6, 2016

Ellsworth. Healthy Acadia will offer a “Tai Chi for Health” class series beginning June 16, 2016 in partnership with the Moore Community Center in Ellsworth. The classes will meet on Thursdays from 10:45am to 11:45am. “Tai Chi for Health” offers participants an opportunity to learn how to improve their strength and balance and reduce their fear and risk of falling.

The Thursday course is open to all and will focus on introductory tai chi movements (“Tai Chi 1”). A more advanced course incorporating intermediate tai chi movements (“Tai Chi 2”) meets from 10:30am to 11:30am on Wednesdays. All classes will be held at the Moore Community Center, 133 State Street, Ellsworth, beginning on June 16, 2016.

“We are honored to have received such a positive response to our prior classes, and we are thrilled to be able to continue offering both beginner and intermediate classes in partnership with the Moore Community Center,” stated Nina Zeldin with Healthy Acadia, who facilitates the tai chi sessions.

“Tai Chi for Health” is an evidenced-based program that, when practiced regularly, helps increase flexibility, muscle strength and coordination, thus reducing the risk and fear of falling. Participants will practice gentle, rhythmic exercises that promote movement control through the integration of both mind and body. Practicing “Tai Chi for Health” increases self-confidence, further promoting health and wellbeing.
