Welcome, Lucie Nolden

Please join us in welcoming Lucie Nolden to the Healthy Acadia team!

Lucie joins us as an AmeriCorps Food for All VISTA service member, in partnership with Hunger Free America.

Hailing from Lexington, Massachusetts, Lucie graduated from Bowdoin College with a degree in Earth and Oceanographic Science in 2022, and spent the past two summers apprenticing on an organic farm in central Maine. In their new role, Lucie will address food insecurity in Hancock County through partnerships with local farms and food access programs, on-farm gleaning opportunities, community gardens, food drives, fundraisers, volunteer coordination, and more.

Lucie, what prompted you to join the Healthy Acadia team?

I felt drawn join to Healthy Acadia's Food for All team in particular because I wanted to participate in the fight against food insecurity by making healthy, local food accessible to all.

What most inspires you about Healthy Acadia's work?

Healthy Acadia's gleaning programs, community garden network initiatives, and collaboration with farmer's markets all strengthen local food systems by leveraging relationships with many of the amazing farms and gardens in Hancock County and beyond! I'm so excited to collaborate with gardeners and farmers to make healthy and delicious food more accessible to folks in Hancock County.

What most inspires you on a personal level?

Good food, sunshine, my dog, and medicinal herbs, trees, and fungi have all been inspiring me and feeding my soul lately!

What is your favorite thing to do, or place to be, in Maine, and why?

That's a really hard question! I love to go rock climbing at Otter Cliffs in Acadia [National Park], dance like crazy to Flash! in the Pans in Blue Hill, and go cross-country skiing with my partner and my dog in the University Forest right outside my apartment.

Lucie currently resides in Oid Town.
